Inspiring Readings: The “What Do Writers Read?” Series Begins

Starting August 4th and continuing every Monday of the month, literature will be the focus of the series "What Do Writers Read?", a program organized by Be Cult Magazine that will bring together renowned voices in Argentine literature and thought. The event is part of the Casa Fundación Medifé cultural projects call, with free admission, at Ayacucho 1945, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The initiative invites us to think of readings as creative triggers, and proposes an intimate and reflective experience around the books that marked each author. Coordinated and hosted by journalist Valeria Groisman, associate editor of Be Cult , the series will feature prominent figures such as Liliana Heker , Matilde Sánchez , Paula Vázquez, Daniel Guebel , Silvia Arazi, Ernesto Meccia, Pablo Semán, Silvina Quintans, Mauricio Koch, Maru Ludueña, Esteban De Gori, and Claribel Terré Morell, director of the magazine.

Be Cult , a publication founded five years ago, has been recognized by the Buenos Aires City Legislature as a Cultural Interest Award. Its editorial work, focusing on literature, the arts, and thought, also supports the Be Cult International Short Story Prize, which will be held for the third time this year, with prominent Cuban writer Leonardo Padura as president of the jury.
Inspired by the phrase "Living without reading is dangerous, because it forces one to conform to life; a pile of books is a defense against conformity," the series will literally unfold around piles of books chosen by each author, in a space where reading is both a starting point and a horizon of meaning.
The full program includes four thematic meetings:
- August 4 – “Telling the stories”: with sociologists Ernesto Meccia, Pablo Semán and Esteban De Gori.
The writer Daniel Guebel.
- August 18 – “Loving the Story”: with Liliana Heker, Mauricio Koch and Maru Ludueña.
- August 25 – “Read, write, mother”: with Paula Vázquez, Silvia Arazi, Silvina Quintans and again Claribel Terré Morell.
Each meeting offers a diverse journey through how readings are transformed into tools for writing, identity, and thought.
